About the Blog
Here in the Harem of King Xerxes, myrrh treatments and hairbrushing can get pretty old. So gather ’round the reflecting pool for a little–what we like to call back in Jerusalem–Kaffe Klatsch. We’re talking about Kingdom-related girl stuff. Which includes pretty much…everything.
Your submissions of original articles and items are always welcome. I don’t just want to hear myself talk! If you’d like to submit, send an email to vesper {at} vespersongs {dot} com.
A note about older posts: Posts prior to August 2010 are from Esther’s original blog home. I have kept the comments from those posts so the conversation is kept intact. I’ve also noted most of the original post dates.
About Esther
Esther, aka Hadassah, became Queen of Persia after her predecessor was, um, dismissed. She, along with every eligible woman in the kingdom, underwent a year of preparation for a “contest” to see which of them would become the new Queen. I imagine it must have gotten pretty mundane, even if it was luxurious. And all the while, the expectation of the wedding loomed large.
This had a strong parallel for me to waiting for the return of Christ–whether we go to meet him at the end of our lives, or he comes to get us. Either way, the time we’re here is shaping us; the way we see the world and act in it. As women, we have our particular way of looking at things, and it matters.
At the Klastch, I try to tackle everything from prophetic dreams to childbirth; from careers to movements in the church. Just because this is a blog for women of faith does not mean it is relegated to “women’s subjects” like household appliances and playground talk. I consider myself a feminist, and I have a strong sense of justice to see women rise up to be everything they were created to be in Christ. You may not agree with my assessment or point of view, but I value yours just as much as my own. That’s what makes the Klatsch work.
It’s time for my beauty treatment…I must be going…
